A New Year

“The Lord says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.””
Psalms 110:1 ESV

There is a very important point to make here as the Lord God is speaking to the Lord Jesus our Savior in a very intimate moment inviting Him to sit at His right hand.  A position that denotes prominence and special recognition.  This glimpse into Heaven by the Psalmist provides us with a picture of the intimacy of the Father and the Son.  This same intimacy which because of the Son He offers to us as His creation.  Not to sit on His right hand but worship Him forever.

It should not be difficult for you to recognize that God loves you.  He has told you so time after time and made promise upon promise to assure you and encourage you.  Yet because of sin and it’s power you regularly listen to the wrong voice.  You commit sin and then fail to recognize it until it has taken control of you.  That sin that so easily beset you is now that sin that consumes you.

So how do you deal with sin?  In 1 John 1:5-10 ESV the Apostle said “This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

As you start the new year of 2019 pause today and continue every day to deal with sin and stay in the light.  Remember that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Happy New Year

In God’s Grace,
