Our Senior Pastor is Elbert W. Nasworthy. Pastor and his wife Elaine have been married for 40 years and have two grown children. Their daugther, Lacey, is married to Robert Cobb; they have a son Anthony Robert and a daughter Isabella Sophia. They reside in Valrico, Florida. Their son Erik is also married; he and his wife Amanda reside in Odessa, Florida; they have a daughter Emeryson.
Pastor came to Myrtle Lake in May of 2002 from West Hillsborough Baptist Church, Tampa. He served there as Senior Pastor for 4 years. Prior to his time at West Hillsborough, he served as Associate Pastor of Finance and Administration, First Baptist Church of Citrus Park.

He served as the First Vice President of the Florida Baptist Convention in 2008. He has also served as a member of the State Board of Missions as a representative of the Tampa Bay Baptist Association. During his tenure on the board he chaired committees on Budget Allocations and Denominational Policy.
He is the former Moderator of the association and President of the Pastors Conference of the Tampa Bay Baptist Association and a member of the Administrative Committee and the Foundation of the Tampa Bay Baptist Association.
The Pastor also does conferences on the subject of communication in marriage. He was the speaker at an annual meeting of the association, and has been a featured speaker and a guest speaker in other churches elsewhere including Alaska, Brazil, Chile, Guatemala and Paraquay.

Rev. Richard (Huey) Bratton, M.Div., Associate Pastor, is a Christ-Follower, Georgia native, a military veteran of over 11 years, a husband, and a father. His life was changed in June of 1987 when he became a follower of Jesus the Christ! The Lord continued to work in his life in amazing ways, and in 1989 he surrendered to God’s to follow Him into fulltime Gospel ministry. Serving primarily as our Director of Worship, he comes to us with over 18 years of vocational ministry having served churches in Florida and Georgia. Three of those years were serving as a chaplain in the U.S. Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom. During that time Huey was responsible for the spiritual leadership of about 1,000 troops. Huey was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his actions during combat in Iraq 2003.
Huey is married to the former Cindy Hoffman and has a 19 year old son, Luke, who is attending the University of North Florida. He has attended KennesawStateUniversity, the University of the State of New York, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and the Conservative Theological Seminary. He holds a B.S. degree with a major in Sociology and a Masters in Divinity. Huey also worked as an addiction counselor for 5 years, and is certified as a Multi-Systemic Therapy Family Therapist. He enjoys fishing, boating, and of course the Bulldogs!

Rev. D. Thomas Porter, Ph.D., Associate Pastor, came to us from Carrollwood Baptist Church in 2007 where he was an active deacon and teacher. “Dr. Tom” left the rat race of academe to pursue the race marked out by Him. He and his wife Sandra have 3 grown daughters, Stacy, Kasey, and Jennifer, and two grandchildren: JR and Liana. Stacy is a screenwriter in Los Angeles; Kasey is at Stetson Law; and Jennifer has completed her Computer Engineering degree from the University of South Florida, and is now a software specialist at Intelledon. Along with baccalaureate degrees in Biblical Studies and Speech from Harding University, “Dr. Tom” also has earned the master of science and Ph.D. in Communication Theory & Research at the Florida State University. With 70+ hours in advanced theological study at Southeastern Baptist Theoplogical Seminary , he is also pursuing the M.Div.
Dr. Tom heads up our Logos Academy, supervises our Bible Study through Sunday School, and assists Curt Hinson, and Allan Gazaway, our League Directors for Upward Soccer. He also publishes our weekly publication, the FLASH. He has served on mission trips to Alaska, Guatemala, and Montana and preaches when Pastor is on vacation or on mission trips. Angela Maragelis, Director of Children's Ministries, joined our staff in August of 2009. Passionate about children and His work among them, Angela is married to Michael Maragelis and has been blesed with two beautiful daughters, Sabrina and Alyssa. She directs our Royal Ambassadors, Girls in Actions, Mission Friends, Acteens, Children's Choir, WeeCare, Upward Sports Leagues, PaW Rally and Vacation Bible School ministries.
